KITA collaborates with KAIST to boost technological competitiveness of exporting companies
The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) KITA and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) expressed their commitment to support Korean exporting companies to reinforce their technological competitiveness. The two organizations co-organized a technology consulting session, which was held on September 27 at the COEX in Samseong-dong. At this event, KITA announced that the organization signed a MOU with KAIST aimed at strengthening global competitiveness of KITA members.
In accordance with the MOU, KITA and KAIST plan to cooperate in supporting companies engaged in the exporting business by providing a) consultations focused on technological support, b) research planning assistance, c) technology transfer assistance and d) support for discovering overseas markets. Chairman Koo expressed his commitment to back exporting companies and mentioned, “By taking advantage of a close collaboration between KITA and KAIST, we will not spare effort to ensure our companies are armed with capabilities to secure technological competitiveness, especially at a time when our companies need to face an ongoing global-scale competition over securing a technological edge.”
Gwanghyeong Lee, the President of KAIST, remarked, “Being supported by our outstanding research capabilities, we will invest efforts to materialize mutually beneficial growth between our institution and enterprises, encourage commercialization of technologies and inject the spirit of establishing new start-ups.” Meanwhile, the technology consulting session was attended by 36 SMEs specializing in robotics, materials, chemical industry and bio technology. Representatives from these companies engaged in an individual consultation with KAIST professors to inquire about technological issues and seek solutions to such issues.
KITA has been collaborating with universities in the country since 2017 to provide technological consultations for SMEs and middle market enterprises, which typically face difficulties in securing research personnel. More than 280 companies have benefited from the assistance provided by KITA.
