The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro - Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) made an announcement on November 8 on a bilateral collaboration made to participate in Food Expo Qazaqstan 2022 - an international food product exhibition event, which was held from November 2nd to 4th in Almaty, Kazakhstan. According to the announcement, the two organizations partnered with each other to set up a Korea Pavilion to promote Korean food products. This year’s Food Expo Qazaqstan is the 24th event to be held so far and is a well-known exposition in the Central Asian region. The Expo held this year attracted more than 450 companies from 28 countries, including Uzbekistan and other countries in the region. Korean exporting companies have been taking part in the event since 2017. At the Korea Pavilion, aT showcased a wide array of Korean food, including processed food from rice, such as Tteok-bokki, which is popular in the region, along with items that are promoted to boost income of agricultural households, such as Yuja tea and fermented sauces.

The Korea Pavilion offered free Kimchi, Gimbap and Tteok-bokki samples and attracted a swarm of local visitors. They also showed keen interest in Korean traditional food, such as Gochujang or red chili paste and Sikhye - a traditional sweet Korean rice beverage as well. Local importers that specialize in purchasing health supplements showed interest in vitamin and collagen products made by Korean health supplement makers. No-seon Ki, the Head of the Trade & Food Industry Division at aT, mentioned, “We are fully committed to providing necessary support to focus on the Central Asian food product market and expand the horizon beyond Kazakhstan.” Meanwhile, the Korea Pavilion, which was operated by aT, was recognized with “The Best of The Best” award for its excellence in booth design, operation and promotion activities.
